What got you interested in working in the world of Legacy Home and Estate Services?
After our last business closed, there was a need in the Louisville area to have a company that could do it all. I had an auctioneers license, Steve had a realtors license and we loved working on houses. We decided to start a company that could handle all your estate needs. We are proud of what we built.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Marshfield, MA. You can taste the New England when I speak. Most of my family is still living there and I love going back. I’ve been in Louisville for over 20 years now. It’s home now and where our family lives. I’m a proud Louisvillian.
What is your favorite thing you found in a house?
Oh, this is a tough one. We found a $75,000 necklace in a pair of shoes in Deep Creek. There was a home in Bardstown loaded with presidential documents from George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. There was the John Lennon lithograph at a house in Prospect. With me being such a huge baseball fan, we came across a Jackie Robinson signed document. It was an awesome find by our team.
What is the funniest thing you had to tell your friends about in a house?
We are usually asked about this. These are better stories over a beer as many are R-Rated. Our friends Jeff and Giles said we should start a second company called “LUST”. I guess the funniest thing that we came across was the gag gifts our friends at Blue Ridge had at their house.
We are treasure hunters, what are things you consider a treasure?
It’s funny, in this business, I’ve stopped caring about “stuff”. I’m more concerned with time and memories. Most of the things I have are tied to memories. A game with the kids or a trip with my wife or baseball trips to Pawtucket with my mom and brother. Ted Williams will always remind me of my late father. People are the import things to me. I don’t really care about “stuff”.
Tell us one story that you would love for folks to know about you and your legacy?
Basically, that I tried to help make our community a better place. I may have a weird sense of humor, but I love people. I want to always be of service and it’s what aligned us when we started this company. How can we make an impact on others lives? We do charity auctions for free raising funds for their cause. We donate things that we can’t auction to those who can use them. We help folks not get taken advantage by shady realtors and people motivated to take advantage of people when they are vulnerable and going through a change of life event. Our goal is to protect those folks and free them up to deal with the loss of their loved one or help them to their next destination. My reward system is doing a good job for others.
