What got you interested in working in the world of Legacy Home and Estate Services?
A combination of a love for vintage items/their history, having a naturally curious mind and the attention span of a lab retriever, and a zest for organizing things. I was a social worker for several years, before getting interested in professional organizing and cleaning. I have also been a long time nanny, outside of my 9-5’s. A hobby of mine has always been to browse thrift stores and estate sales for interesting/unique vintage items. Over time, I recognized my interest in vintage shopping lied more in learning about the history of vintage items, more than they lied in buying them for myself. I wanted to take part in the re-homing process for some of this stuff, which is when I decided to make my way to Legacy.
Where did you grow up?
Louisville, KY.
What is your favorite thing you found in a house?
A really cool hanging lamp from the 70’s.
What is the funniest thing you had to tell your friends about in a house?
I always find it obejctively funny when I walk into a home where it is immediately clear that someone REALLY loved one particular niche thing. One project that comes to mind is the “Poodle House”. I couldn’t say how many poodle trinkets and figurines were in this home, but it is my goal in life to find literally anything that brings me as much joy as poodles must have brought to that person’s life.
We are treasure hunters, what are things you consider a treasure?
It’s hard for me to value one particular type of item over another, because so many things are valued differently, person-to-person. I really enjoy the discovery process, like cleaning out storage rooms or boxes of old decor items/trinkets. It is really neat to open up boxes of things that must have been really special to someone for a long time, but had since been put away to be kept safe. It is nice to be a part of the process where I know these items will see daylight again and have a new life as someone else’s treasured display item for many more years.
